What in the hell happened?

What the hell happened -

545 people vs. 300 million people

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be – read it!!

The article below is completely neutral …not anti republican or democrat.

Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel has hit the nail
directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must
assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day.

It’s a short but good read.  Worth the time.  Worth remembering!

545 vs. 300,000,000

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE.  READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545  PEOPLE–By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget.  The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You  and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve  Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one  president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human  beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally,  and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague  this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress.   In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority.  They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing.   I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.  The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault.    They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.   No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits…..   The president can only propose a budget.    He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.   Who is the speaker of the House?     Nancy Pelosi.  She is the leader of the majority party.  She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want.  If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility.   I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.  When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in   IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.   Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world.  We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

Barry’s health care speech is about to start here. Why am I watching? Why has it taken twenty minutes for the guy to get to the podium? And did Mrs. Barry get a look of jealousy in her eyes when Barry kissed Hilary’s cheek? (I think so, and I think Mrs. Barry holds a sour look for everything unless it is connected to Barry). I could be watching End of Days.
I haven’t been watching the issues surrounding health care reform over these past couple months. School and work and Kaleb being down here for the summer has distracted me from politics. There just seems so little time in the day to get into all these things. But what I have caught is how little talk there actually is about health care reform. It seems mostly about influencing health insurance with a government-run insurance program. This is supposed to lead to affordable prices for those without health insurance or for those whose health insurance costs too much.
I’m confused. Why is there no attempt to reform the health care industry? Hospitals? Doctors? The people who actually dictate the costs of medical care? But all he is talking about is insurance. I don’t understand.
Maybe regulation of the health care industry should be what is considered. Maybe who’s friends with who should be considered. Are doctors and hospitals more aligned with Democrats, while insurance companies are predominately Republican? Is who’s in charge looking out for the wallets of the interests of those who support them, while taking a chunk against the opposition? Can he go to a commercial break? I need a cigarette.
He’s outlining his “plan“…
Gee, ideals that sound great, but haven’t we heard ideals before? What happened to that schikt?
He sounds more like he’s hosting an infomercial. And he just said “…how Members of this Congress gets affordable insurance…” I thought they got affordable health insurance because we paid for it?
Great ploy, pulling McCain’s name into it, giving him credit for an idea.
Pelosi looked like she wanted to attack someone there, who balked at Barry’s claim that illegal immigrants would not be covered. She has a pearl necklace. Does someone actually slip it to her anymore? How drunk is that poor bastard?
Sit down, you bastards. Let Barry talk. Applause gets in the way of actually getting listening, and keeps this speech going on and on.
oooh, how we pay for this plan…
He’s invoking Ted Kennedy’s nobleness in defense of health insurance reform?
How do you require health insurance out of all citizens, like auto insurance for all drivers, but then say some citizens will get that insurance for free? Isn’t that already introducing inequality? Is that beyond the welfare insurance given out for irresponsible parents who use the baby-making factory to gain free, unworked income?
Asied from my quips, I don’t have much to say about the speech. I understand the ideals he spits out but are ideals ever the truths that reach the table, from either Democrats or Republicans, Conservatives or Liberals? But, if this “plan” is so easily understood in idealized form, why is its actuality so difficult to comprehend? Why doesn’t Barry send every American a five-page letter and say this is my plan and have no contradictions within or within any legalese? It’s easy to give out ideals with bright eyes and applause facing you, but what about truths behind it all? If what is spoken is not what is on paper, whether because of contradictions, because of buried conditions, because of confused legal jargon, then it’s all bullshit. It’s either one way or the other.
Haven’t we already faced “unforeseen circumstances” that broke promises and oaths, that have made lies out of ideals? Do we need more of that? Is it too much to ask for honesty from politicians, from all  politicians, that all cards be laid out on the table in a manner which does not necessitate a law degree to interpret?
